Alastair grew up in Marlborough and went to study Dentistry at the University of Bristol. After qualifying with BDS honours and winning the DENTSPLY oral medicine prize, he completed his foundation training year in South Gloucestershire. He went on to work in the Bristol Dental hospital, and The Royal United Hospital, Bath for two years as a senior house officer in oral medicine and oral and maxillofacial surgery, gaining experience in complicated extractions and the treatment of unusual oral health conditions. During this time Alastair completed his membership of the joint dental faculties of the Royal College of surgeons.
In 2013 Alastair travelled to Tanzania with the charity Bridge2aid to teach rural clinical officers how to safely remove teeth under local anaesthetic.
Alastair joined Savernake Dental in June 2014. Since joining the practice he has enjoyed getting to know his patients and their families. He prides himself in providing high quality, ethical care, putting his patients’ interests first. Alastair enjoys treating nervous patients and helping them to get the care they need in a calm, friendly atmosphere to help put them at ease.
Alastair is currently completing a master’s degree with the University of Bristol in the field of dental implantology: an exciting new area of dentistry allowing for safe, reliable replacement of missing teeth. This year, Alastair has been appointed a joint trainer of foundation dentists with Jonathan Taylor.
Outside of dentistry, Alastair is a keen swimmer, runner and enjoys playing basketball and squash with friends. He lives locally with his wife Francesca, and loves being a part of the local community.
